Tajweed Color Legend Guide
Colors in the mushaf text correspond to these tajweed rules:
Ghunnah & Mad Asli
Ghunnah (nasalization) or natural long vowels (2 counts).
Mad Jaiz / 'Aridh Lissukun
Permissible long vowels (2, 4, or 5/6 counts).
Mad Wajib / Mad Lazim
Obligatory or necessary long vowels (5 to 6 counts).
Ikhfa / Ikhfa Shafawi
Hiding sound of Nun/Tanwin or Mim with nasalization.
Idgham Bighunnah
Merging sound with nasalization.
Idgham Bilaghunnah
Merging sound without nasalization (into Lam or Ra).
Iqlab
Converting Nun/Tanwin sound into Mim before Ba.
Qalqalah
Bouncing/echoing letters (ق, ط, ب, ج, د) on sukun or pause.
Hamzah Wasl / Lam Syamsiyah
Silent letters / skipped during continuous reading.
